Lampeter secured a Bonus Point victory over Trimsaran with their 4th try 5 minutes from full time when Trim were pushing for the victory themselves.

Lampeter started off strongly and 2 missed tackles saw the home team go over for their first try before the green and blacks hit back with a penalty by Dan Griffiths, there was another 2 missed tackles not long after as Lampeter got through for their 2nd try and take a 12-3 lead.

Trimsaran knew they needed a score next and thats what they got as they cut the gap to 4 points. Lampeter were back on the attack and got themselves a penalty try when flanker Lee Thomas dived in the side of a ruck and it left the half time score 19-8.

Although Trim were playing quite well and got stronger as the half went on , key errors such as knock ons and missed tackles were killing the visitors whilst Lampeters defence held on strong.

Trim started the 2nd half strong and got their 2nd try of the game within 5 minutes of the restart from a driving maul and with the conversion successful it was now a 4 point game at 19-10.

Given the conditions it was quite an entertaining game with both sides giving it their all on a heavy field. Trim held of the Lampeter maul strongly all throughout the game and with them opting for the lineout from every penalty awarded the green and blacks done well not to concede anything heading into the final 10 minutes. Whilst Lampeter were proving that they wernt going to let the visitors get over their line and steal a win easily with strong defence and still managing to break the line and get some key yards on the field.

Trim had a chance 10 minutes from time but a key turnover when the visitors were 3 meters from the try line helped Lampeter clear their lines again.

Trimsaran pushed their way to the Lampeter half with some good interplay between forwards and backs and a little chip over the top was caught by Lampeter and the mark was called. With Trim backtracking Lampeter tapped the ball and went from their own 22 with some good rugby and after a couple of phases caught the Trim defence asleep and got through for their Bonus Point try and surely to take the game away from Trim. Making the score 26-15 with only 5 minutes remaining. The green and blacks didnt give up hope of taking any points home and got into the Lampeter 5 yard but a loose ball was picked up by the home team and they cleared their lines , although the kick didnt find touch another mistake by Trim meant the game was over and Lampeter had the 5 points.

Another disappointing away defeat for the Green and Blacks, we welcome Penygroes to Caeffair this coming Thursday night and will be looking at getting a confidence boosting victory but it will not be easy and although Penygroes position isnt the best they will provide a stern test for Trimsaran.
