Trimsaran 31-17 Llangadog

Last night Trimsaran welcomed Llangadog to Caeffair looking to continue their form from the last 10 minutes of their game against Bynea where we managed to score 3 late tries to get as losing BP.

The story of Trims season so far has been their slow start and allowing teams to get more than 2 scores ahead before hitting form as happened in the game against Bynea and Betws the 2 previous weekend. Surprise surprise it happened again last night when the visitors took a deserved 12-0 lead and they missed a penalty also which meant the damage wasnt as much as it could have been and after 30 minutes once again Trim were struggling to string phases together and giving stupid penalties away to Llangadog. Trimsaran missed a kick at goal and Llangadog received the first yellow card of the game when a pass was deliberately knocked down when it seemed there was a little break on for Dan Morgan just outside the 22 metre line.It took until the last play of the half for Trim to get their first try of the game when winger Dan Morgan scored in the corner after some continuous pressure in the Llangadog 22 and the ball went through the hands and phases for the winger to dot down in the corner. Dan Griffiths nailed the conversion to leave the half time score 12-7.

Trim kicked off the second half and although the kick went out on the full from the kick off the home teams scrum put pressure on the visitors and some strong defence enabled Trim to have a turnover and win a penalty in midfield. Trim went through a couple of phases and prop Josh Daniels scored his teams 2nd try and with the conversion successful by Dan Griffiths Trim were in the lead for the first time.  Trim soon scored their 3rd try through substitute Elgan Morgan. the conversion was missed but Trim led 19-12. With their heads up and playing some exciting rugby the green and blacks managed the bonus point try through full back Dan Griffiths who kicked through and dotted down in the corner. 24-12. Llangadog now had their turn and were going through the phases and winning penalties but they couldnt break down the home sides defence, which was now down to 13 men after a yellow card for Ryan Edwards and moments later Emyr Evans saw yellow for his part in a little brawl that broke out. Llangadog opted for a penalty at goals which they missed. This give Trim the chance to clear their lines but back came Llangadog again winning another penalty which this time they opted to go for a lineout. Their hooker dummied a throw at the lineout and the ref awarded a free kick to Trim which was cleared towards halfway. Llangadog had possession only for it to be ripped off them by replacement center Ben Bridgewater and he raced away for Trimsarans 5th try of the night and their 4th in the second half to all but secure the win as it took the score to 31-12.

Llangadog showed their never say die attitude and for the last 5 minutes of the game once again it was the visitors who pressured the home defence deep in the 22. The Green and Blacks held strong up until the last play of the game when the visitors crossed the line from a driving maul for their 3rd try of the night. With the conversion missed the ref blew the whistle for full time and Trim had secured their bonus point win to climb above their opponents into 9th in the league table.
