Draw on the road

Trim came away from Lampeter wth a well earned draw in a game which could have gone either way in the end. The first half was all the home team apart from a 10 minute spell where Trim kicked their 2 penalties and pressured the home defence wiith their backs looking dangerous. Lampeter scored 2 first half tries but missed a handful of kicks at goals which kept Trim in the game and left the half time score at 10-6 to the home team.

Lampeter scored again at the beginning of the second half which looked to have taken the game away from Trim as they were chasing their 4th try which would have given them a bonus point win. This give Trim the kick they needed to make a comeback and they scored their first try of the game through captain Ryan Edwards from a driving maul. Then only a couple of minutes later they scored the try of the match when Center Rhys Evans finished off a superb counter attacking move from Trim which started all the way up the other end of the field in their own 22. Full Back Dan Griffiths, who had a 100% kicking ratio in this game nailed the touchline conversion to give Trim a 20-17 lead with 15 minutes of the game remaining and it looked like Trim could secure a victory that they wouldnt have thought possible after the first half display. Trim stayed strong in defence but conceded a penalty with 5 minutes left in front of the posts which allowed Lampeter the chance to level things which they successfully converted. The remaining minutes were highly entertaining and went back and forth , Trim were given a penalty on half way which they opted to kick for touch, with a lineout in Lampeters 22 an oppurtunity was there for the visitors to take victory, Lampeter wernt happy to settle for a draw though and turned the ball over in the lineout and ended up having a counter attack of their own and with the try line right infront of them in the last play of the game the home team couldnt quite make the final pass and was knocked on from one of their players with the tryline right infront of them.

The game finished in a draw at 20-20 after an entertaining second half , whilst Trim maybe didnt deserve a victory , after leading with less than 10 minutes remaining there was a sense of disappointment but having not found it easy travelling to Lampeter the last few years , taking 2 points back to the village was certainly a positive result
