Trimsaran 21-17 New Dock Stars

Trimsaran welcomed local rivals New Dock Stars to Caeffair on Tuesday night.

After a day where it rained heavily all day and many expected the game to be off the pitch held up well and allowed the game to be on with only a slight bit of standing water which disappeared as the sun came out for the game.

Trimsaran started the stronger and put Dock under constant pressure for the opening 15 minutes and took a 3-0 lead. Dock came back and with the ill discipline again going against Trim Dock had territory and went through a period of constant presure in the home sides 22 only to be held out by some strong defence. After another penalty was awarded and with Trim defending the maul well Dock took the points this time and drew the scores level.

From the kick off Dock dropped the ball which give Trim the scrum, The Dock pack pushed Trim off their ball only for Trim to counter ruck from the following ruck and with the quick turnover ball Trimsaran scored the games first try through Fly half Rhodri Mason. The conversion was missed and the score was 8-3 after 30 minutes. For the remaining 10 minutes of the half it was Dock who had the upper hand and with a constant threat from their big pack any penalties that were going their way they opted for touch and the rolling maul. With the clock over the 40 minute period but the game still going due to the penalties the ref had enough and give Trimsarans Steffan Roberts a yellow card for coming in the side of a maul. Sensing an oppurtunity against a 7 man scrum Dock went for the scrum although trim held well originally after a couple of resets and more penalties the referee lost patience with the green and blacks and went under the posts for the penalty try which give Dock a 10-8 half time lead.
