Trimsaran 19-24 Llandybie

Trimsaran welcomed Llandybie to Caeffair looking at getting their first league win of the season.

It proved to be a disappointing result but a performance which if Trim were a bit more clinical and took their chances would have ended in victory against a very well drilled Llandybie team.

Trim controlled the first 15-20 minutes of the game and had 2 or 3 chances to get the first try but some good defending from the visitors and some handling errors from Trim meant the score stayed 0-0. Llandybie then had the oppurtunity through a penalty to get the games first points but it was missed. Trim then made a break from the next phase of play with full back Dan Griffithsrunning from the home 22 meter line to the visitors half and offloading to winger Phil Griffiths who made it to the visitors 22 meter line but the ball was turned over and Llandybie had the put in to the scrum.

From the scrum Llandybie had a good attacking move and ended up scoring a superb try of their own to take a 7-0 lead with half time fast approaching. 2 penalty kicks from second row Lee Thomas brought Trim back into the game and the score at half time was 7-6 to the visitors.

Llandybie started the second half with a bang and scored their second try with the conversion unsuccesful. Trimsaran came to life after this and after some pressure managed to score their first try of the season through flanker Michael Daniels and with the difficult conversion missed the visitors still had a slender 1 point lead.

The game went back and forth with but Llandybie seemed to take the game by the scruff of the neck when they scored 2 quickfire tries in the space of 3 minutes to get a Bonus Point and it looked like it could have ended up being a long last 15 minutes for the home team with Llandybie showing good attacking rugby.

The home team held strong though and after holding out Llandybie they manged to get down the other end of the field with winger Daniel Morgan scoring his teams 2nd try.

With time running out when Trim received a penalty with the last play of the game they decided to go for posts to get a losing bonus point which at one point didnt seem likely.

A game that could have gone either way but to their credit Llandybie deserved their victory and travelled home with 5 points in the bag.
