New Dock Stars 21-34 Trimsaran

Trimsaran made the short journey to New Dock Stars looking to continue their recent good form and remain near the top of the table.

New Dock started the game the better and for the opening 20 minutes it was Dock who controlled territory and possession looking to use their strong rolling maul to their advantage, Trimsarans ill discipline certinaly didnt help matters continuosly giving penalty after penalty away. The Green and blacks managed to hold Dock out though with some strong defence.

Trim made a break up field through flanker Nathan Jones from deep inside their own 22, although the ball was turned over initially the visitors managed to turn possession back in their favour and after winning a scrum they scored the first try of the game through centre Thomas Bonnell.

From the resulting restart Dock won a penalty and again kicked for touch, this time they were successful with their rolling maul and took the lead by 7-5.

This give Trim a wake up call and it was the visitors who started to put some good phases together and with this came the 2nd try for Trim, with the conversion successful Trim took a 12-7 half time lead.

Dock were on the receiving end of a yellow card towards the beginning of the second half after their prop tripped up Trimsaran centre Bonnell as he looked at making a break. With some harsh words at half time after giving away 11 first half penalties Trim scored 2 quick tries and led 24-7.  With the bonus point secure ill discipline again statrted to creep in and Dock were taking advantage of it. With 20 minutes remainig 4 successive penalties from the kick off resulted in Dock booting the ball to the 5 yard line , with Dock looking at getting their rolling maul going when prop Josh Daniels went in at the side the ref was left no choice but to show the yellow card with this being the 5th penalty in a matter of minutes conceded by Trim.

This worked in Docks favour and they scored 2 tries in the 10 minutes that Trim were reduced to 14 men again through their forwards. with 8 minutes remaining in the game and another penalty going Docks way it looked like Dock fancied their chances at stealing a victory, Trim managed to steal the lineout and clear their lines. Trim scored 2 tries in the final 5 minutes to make the scoreline a bit more favourable.

Trim remain 3rd in the league with Lampeter to visit Caeffair next weekend.
