Trimsaran travelled to Cefneithin on Saturday in what was Ioan 'Yogi Bach' Jones 600th appearence for the club. It is a remarkable achievement and the travelling support outnumbered the home support for what was a huge day for Yogi and the club. 

There was a guard of honour by both teams as Yogi entered the field of play to a standing ovation by both teams and supporters with his 2 sons Cai and Elis. 

There was no motivation needed for this game by the green and blacks , the boys wanted to win this game for Yogi and Trim started the game on fire taking an early 3-0 lead after 5 minutes. It wasnt much longer and Cefneithin had their own oppurtunity at posts but it was missed. Trim cleared from the 22 drop out but moments later 2nd row Lee Thomas was shown a yellow card for a high tackle, the 2nd high tackle in succession and the ref shown he wasnt taking any messing with this early yellow card. From the resulting penalty Cefneithin opted to go for a scrum but the superb Trim front 8 managed to drive them back and force the Cefn number 8 to knock the ball on. with 2 minutes left on the yellow card Cefneithin finally managed to break through the Trim defence and scored the first try of the game in the corner, the conversion was missed and Cefn had the lead 5-3. Trim hit straight back , Cefn cleared the kick off to Trimsaran number 8 Steff Roberts who burst through the Cefn defence and passed to full back Rhys Evans who finished off the try to the delight of the big travelling support and with the conversion successful by Corey Phillips it was Trim back infront 5-10. In what was a hugely competitive game with both teams threatening on occasions it looked like Trim had their second try of the game as they broke through but unfortunately the game was stopped due to a Cefneithin player being injured, the correct decision at the time by the referee as player welfare should always be the main priority. Trim were awarded a scrum as the game restarted. 5 minutes later with Trim pushing and an overlap outside Cefeneithin intercepted a pass and instead of Trim scoring in the corner it was Cefneithin running 70 meters the other way and scoring their second try of the game, Conversion was missed and this left the half time score 10-10.

The opening 15 minutes of the second half was back and forth with both teams looking to break through each others strong defence. Trim were awarded a penalty which was put into the Cefn 22, from this Trim set up a driving maul which was stopped 10 yards out. A couple of phases later a wide pass from centre Thomas Bonnell seen full back Rhys Evans go over for his and Trims second try of the game, the conversion was successful by Corey Phillips and Trim were back infront 17-10. It was Cefneithin who were applying pressure on the green and blacks now and they were awarded a penalty with 20 minutes left which they opted to kick for goal, this was succesful and the deficit was reduced to 17-13. Both teams exchanged missed penalties in the next 10 mins with both kickers missing from the tee. The remainder of the game was tense with oppurtunites for both teams, with 7 minutes remaining it was Trim in the driving seat as they were holding possession well in the cefn 22 and going through the phases. A mistake led to Cefneithin getting the ball back and after being awarded 3 penalties on the trot it was now them with an attacking lineout 10 meters out from the Trim tryline. Cefn were getting closer and closer to the tryline. Cefn burst over the tryline but some fantastic defence held them up over the line and it was now a scrum 5 meters out. The visitors drove Cefn off the ball and secured possession themselves and were awarded a penalty with 2 minutes left. This was cleared to the halfway line but there was a knock on in the lineout and last play was called and Cefn had a scrum ont he halfway line for one last chance to steal victory. Another big push from the Trimsaran 8 though made led to Cefneithin knocking the ball on at the back fo the scrum and the ref blew for the full time whistle which was met by a huge cheer from the visiting supporters. A memorable win on a memorable day for Trimsaran RFC and Yogi Bach. A win which means Trim will stay top for christmas although a huge derby on December 28th against second placed Furnace will certainly add to the festive period. 

A dogged performance from Trim today infront of the scrum v cameras in another closely faught game with Cefneithin. The boys were determined to celebrate Yogis massive achievement with a win which was achieved against a tough Cefneithin team. Yogi just represents what grassroots rugby should be about, commitment to your club and team mates  A huge ambassador for our club and one that all our players look up to.
