Bynea 0-47 Trimsaran

Trimsaran travelled to Bynea on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways after a hugely disappointing home defeat vs New Dock Stars the previous weekend.

Bynea have had their struggles this season but they had a full squad waiting for the green and blacks. With the rain coming down this game was never going to be a spectacle and with Bynea’s big pack happy to disrupt the ball and a lot of basic handling errors for both teams that is exactly what happened. Trim scored 2 first half tries through Ryan Edwards and a penalty try from a scrum to take a 12-0 lead into the break.

Bynea constantly disrupted the visitors attack and were happy to attack with slow ball themselves. Some discipline issues from Trim did give Bynea a couple of chances to score themselves but some good defence held them out.

Trim took their time to score again in the second half and after scoring their 3rd try of the game through full back Rhys Evans there was 25 minutes left for them to try and get the bonus point try. This came pretty quick after through Rhys Evans again after some good attacking play between the backs.

The pressure was now off Trim as they had secured an important bonus point. After 65 minutes the score remained 26-0 after 65 minutes but 3 tries after this time from winger Rhys Nelson and 2 from centre Thomas Bonnell give Trim a 47-0 victory as Corey Phillips was successful with 6 of the 7 conversions.

This wasn’t a fantastic performance from Trimsaran as we got into dogfight with Bynea but the second half was a much improved performance after a disappointing opening 40 minutes.

Full credit to Bynea for fielding a full squad for this game and for giving the green and blacks a very competitive game. As always it was a highly physical game but it was also an important 5 points for us as we move up to 2nd in the early league standings.

We didnt concede a try for the 2nd game after also keeping a clean sheet last weekend vs Dock (eventhough we lost 6-3 and also didnt score ourselves), infact weve only conceded 1 try in league rugby so far in our opening 4 games, a breakaway try for Furnace.

Our next game is against early leaders Tumble at home on 19th October.
