Llangadog 9-11 Trimsaran

Trimsaran travelled to Llangadog last weekend, only being able to field 17 players due to work commitments and unavailability etc. Llangadog themselves only fielded 16 players. As has happened almost every game this season as the warm ups started the rain started. it didnt last for long but it didnt make conditions any easier on an already heavy field.

Llangadog kicked the game off and it was Trim who started the brighter making an early break and looking to spread the ball wide which led to an early penalty success by outside half Corey Phillips. 3-0 after 10 minutes.  This kickstarted Llangadog into life and they were trying to pressure the Trim defence but once again as was the same last week , the green and black wall wasnt giving much away and Llangadog had to settle for 2 seperate penalty attempts at goal which were both missed. The game wasnt much of an entertaining spectacle with alot of the game being played in midfield but it was Trim who struck next 2 minutes before half time after a penalty to touch seen them 5 yards out and after winning the lineout and setting up the driving maul it was captain Ryan Edwards who scored the games first try , the conversion was unsuccessful but the half time score was in favour of trim 8-0.

Llangadog started the stronger the second half and some ill discipline from Trim led to successive penalties for the home side and they reduced the score to 8-6 with 25 minutes left. Trim also received a yellow card for second row Lewis Hardy for coming in at the side of a ruck. Trim now were up against it down to 14 men and Llangadogs tails were up. Trims defence was staying strong though and after a turnover in midfield a break down the elft wing led to Trim being in a good attacking position, Llangadog slowed the ball down and denied Trim the chance of getting a try with an overlap out wide but Corey Phillips kicked the resulting penalty over the posts to make the score 11-6 with 15 minutes left. Trim went on the attack again but lose possession 5 yards out from the Llangadog tryline. this allowed Llangadog a chance to clear their lines. Llangadog won a further penalty 30 meters out and decided to go for the posts . the kick was succesful and the score was 9-11 with minutes remaining. Trim managed to pressure the Llangadog clearing kick from the kick off and it went into the hands of full back Rhys Evans who brought play inside the Llangadog 22. Trim managed to hold out for the remaining minute of the game and scrum half Ioan Jones booted the ball off the field to secure an important away victory which keeps Trimsaran at the top of the league after 8 games.

As is always the case it was another tough game in Llangadog but a deserved victory for Trimsaran. We welcome Llandybie to Caeffair next weekend as we look to continue our winning ways. Thank you to all the supporters that travelled to Llangadog its always great to see plenty of support for the boys especially on away games
