Bynea 15-39 Trimsaran

Trimsaran made the short journey to Bynea on Saturday looking to build on their win vs Llangadog, a stubborn Bulldogs team awaited the green and blacks however and Trim were made to work extremely hard by Bynea for everything throughout the game. Trim started the game on fire and went 5-0 up within 5 minutes through a try from Rhys Evans , from the resulting kick off Trim knocked the ball on and Bynea hit straight back to make it 5-5. This is how the score stayed for the remainder of the first half, Bynea withstood some continuous pressure from Trim with some superb defence and turnovers holding out the visitors.

The second half kicked off and some ill discipline resulted in a yellow card to second row Dylan Evans and gifted Bynea some key position on the field. Bynea took advantage of this and scored thier 2nd try of the game to go 12-5 up. This brought Trim to life and a try through scrum half Ben Bridgewater after some tight work from the forwards and a successful conversion through Corey Phillips brought the game back level at 12-12, only for some more ill discipline from the kick off giving Bynea the oppurtunity to take the lead again through a penalty. With the score 15-12 to the home team with 20 minutes left things wernt looking to good for Trim. The game burst into life at this stage though as Trim kicked a penalty through Corey Phillips before being awarded a penalty try shortly after after a trip on Centre Lee Bates just as he was going to score his teams 3rd try of the game. This resulted in a scuffle on the field and the referee showing his authority sending 4 players (2 from each team) to the sin bin leaving the game to be played with 13 players a side for the final 10 minutes. Trim were starting to play some good rugby now as the final 10 minutes approached and after a good kick through winger Curtis Brooke made a superb tackle which left Trim with a 5 metre scrum. trim took full advantage and drove over the scrum for number 8 Steffan Roberts to touchdown for the bonus point try. the conversion was missed in difficult conditions but with only 5 minutes to go it seemed that Trim had done enough to secure a hard faught victory. Trim were now applying more pressure and a crossfield chip which bounced perfectly on the try line was pounced on by Centre and captain Lee Bates to further add to the score. With 2 minutes remaining a superb 50/22 by Corey Phillips put Trim in a fantastic position and from the resulting lineout some good interplay with the forwards and backs seen winger Curtis Brooke touchdown for the final try of the game to leave the full time score Bynea 15-39 Trimsaran.

5 points on the road but the boys were made to work extremely hard by Bynea. 4 games gone in the league and Trim currently sit 3rd in the table behind Amman United and Penygroes but with a game on hand on both teams. A promising start to the season but a long way to go, we are back in cup action next weekend as we welcome Lampeter to Caeffair in our final group game of the cup.
